Bonjour! You can’t visit Paris without indulging in some classic French flavors.
When it comes to authentic Parisian dining, Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie is at the top of my list. Even though it’s a cozy, small spot, it’s absolutely packed with charm and the kind of traditional dishes that make you fall in love with France all over again. Located right in the heart of Rue Montmartre, it’s a must-visit for anyone who loves high-quality food in an unpretentious setting.

A Cozy Spot to Savor French Classics
Situated on the iconic Rue Montmartre, this restaurant is a dream for foodies. It’s actually a gourmet deli and a restaurant in one, which gives it a very warm, classic, and quintessentially Parisian atmosphere. There’s a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, and before you leave, you can even pick up some premium French ingredients (like foie gras or specialty wines) from their shop to take home as a souvenir.
What’s on the Menu?
The menu here is a beautiful collection of French classics. Everything is prepared with so much care, but here are the highlights that I personally think you shouldn’t miss:

Roasted Duck with a Balsamic Twist
Their roasted duck breast is legendary (even their logo is a little duck!). The meat is incredibly tender and served with smooth mashed potatoes and a perfectly balanced balsamic sauce. I highly recommend ordering it medium-rare to keep the meat juicy and flavorful. It’s a 10/10 dish for me!

Pan Fried Foie Gras Delight
This was a total highlight. A generous, high-quality piece of foie gras pan-fried until it’s perfectly crisp on the outside and buttery on the inside. Served with warm bread and a side salad, the richness is just incredible. It’s the ultimate French indulgence.

Onion Soup
You can’t go to a French bistro and not order the Onion Soup! This one follows a very traditional recipe—rich, deep flavors with a massive, cheesy crouton on top. It’s savory, salty, and the perfect comfort food for a day of exploring Paris.

Escargot: A French Culinary Adventure
If you’re feeling adventurous, you have to try the escargot. It’s a classic French appetizer, and while everyone has their own favorite spot in the city, the version here is delicious. It’s the perfect way to start your meal before moving on to the heavier main courses.

Service Beyond Expectations
The service here made the experience even better. The staff is warm and very helpful. I actually wanted to order the Ravioli as well, but the waiter kindly warned me that it might be too much food for one person (he was right!). He also gave me a great recommendation for a white wine that paired perfectly with my meal. It felt like a truly complete and thoughtful Parisian dining experience.
Why Visit Le Comptoir de La Gastronomie?
It’s more than just a restaurant; it’s a journey through authentic French flavors. Every bite feels like a piece of Parisian life. If you want to experience the city like a local and enjoy world-class food in a friendly setting, you will absolutely love it here.
